VІІ SERGE LIFAR INTERNATIONAL BALLET COMPETITION

In 1994 Yuriy Stanishevskiy developed the concept of the International Ballet Competition named after Serge Lifar and Festival "Serge Lifar de la Dance" which have been emboded by its founders, Kyiv City State Administration, Ministry of Culture and National Opera of Ukraine. These events bear the name of genius choreographer of the twentieth century, Ukrainian, kievit S.M.Lifar, who over 30 years headed the best musical theater in Europe, The Grand Opera in Paris. The competition and festival has become an outstanding event in the ballet life of Europe having get the auspices of UNESCO as well as the President and Cabinet of Ukraine.

Unchangeable head of the jury of these ballet forums named after reformer of the European ballet theater, Serge Lifar, was a prominent modern choreographer Yuri Gryhorovych. For today there have been held seven Serge Lifar International Ballet Competition and 8 festivals "Serge Lifar de la Dance." From 18 to 25 May of 2002 in Kiev there was held IV Serge Lifar International Ballet Competition. In senior group of girls (19-28 years old) the second prize was won by a student of II turm, Marina Stepanchenko.

From April 2 to April 9, 2006 in Kiev there was held VI Serge Lifar International Ballet Competition. In junior group (15-18 years) the third prize was won by a student of II-turm, Oleksiy Potyomkin.

From 27 March to 2 April of 2011 in Donetsk there took place the VIIth. Serge Lifar International Ballet Competition. Special jury prize named afterf Yuriy Stanishevskiy and Laureate title were won by a student of IV turm, Oleksandr Skupnin.
